With their 11th studio album, How
To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb having found critical and commercial acclaim
following its release in November 2004, U2 now look set to
spend the majority of 2005 on the road.
The
band's manager, Paul McGuiness today confirmed the dates, "We're
really looking forward to this tour, the show looks and sounds
fantastic, its going to be a great year".
Announced
today are 2 back-to-back shows in Atlanta at Philips Arena on
November 18th & 19th, 2005.
In
addition, new concerts dates have been confirmed in Minneapolis,
Milwaukee, Washington, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Houston, Dallas,
Miami, Tampa, Ottawa, Montreal, Hartford, Buffalo,
Cleveland, St. Louis, Omaha, Salt Lake City and Portland.
With 1.9 million tickets sold U2//Vertigo//2005 has shattered
sales records throughout Europe and North America. Dublin's
two Croke Park concerts (160,000 tickets) sold out in just
50 minutes. In France, U2 sales surpassed 75,000 tickets sold
in less than 1 hour making it the quickest sell out ever for
a show at Stade De France. Shows in 3 Spanish cities (Madrid,
Barcelona and San Sebastian) were all immediate sell-outs and
Vienna brought the band another first when 55,000 tickets sold
out in 74 minutes beating any previous sales record country-wide.
Concert ticket sales in North America were no exception with
U2/Vertigo//2005 announcing immediate sell-outs in Chicago
where 4 performances sold out in a few hours and in Boston
where 3 shows also immediately sold out. In addition, multiple
dates were confirmed in every city on the spring leg of the
North American tour itinerary.
Tickets for all additional performances will go on sale in
the next few weeks. General admission floor tickets remain
$49.50 (plus applicable service fees) and are limited to 2
per person. Additional reserved seat tickets prices vary according
to market. There is an 8 ticket limit per person with a maximum
purchase of 2 general admission floor tickets.
