Norah
Jones, fresh off her amazing night at the Grammy Awards, opened
the 3oth Anniversary Year of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's
Classic Chastain series on June 14th at the beautiful
Chastain Park Amphitheatre. The sold-out show's capacity crowd
was really in for a unique and amazing night of music.
Norah's
stage setup was simple, yet very elegant, with nothing to distract
the audience away from her incredible voice. She opened with
"Cold, Cold Heart", and throughout the night took
us all on a musical journey that showcased not only her prowess
at the piano, but the emotional depth with which she performs.
Throughout
the show, Norah played a wide variety of songs, including especially
poignant versions of "Come Away With Me", "It
Makes No Difference", and "The Nearness of You",
which she performed solo.
Although
a virtual newcomer to mainstream audiences, Norah's performance
at Chastain Park was one of a seasoned veteran - allowing the
band to complement her flawlessly.
Each
of the paths on this musical journey were a delight to behold.
Full of such energy and emotion, no one wanted this journey
to end. Hopefully, I'll have the opportunity to get lost again
with Norah Jones as she continues her musical journey... and
hopefully, you will too.
